When I pulled into the bus stop in Waco, something hit me. I could be whoever I want and no one would ever know the difference. I could be a guy that got evicted from his apartment, a runaway, a drug addict that can't hold a job, or many other stories I have heard already. That got me thinking. Who am I? Am I a guy that lives in Springfield, MO, has a home and a job waiting for him, and a busy lifestyle that takes all his time? "Choose this day who you will serve." "Man can not serve both God and mammon." I choose to serve God. To be His ambassador. To seek out the lost and show them the way. That can not be done well living away from them. Submerge yourself (Dylan) into the darkness and shine the light of Jesus!
Today I met a man named Willie Ray Calhoun but everyone just calls him Ray. He is desperate for someone to simply care. He struggles and works so hard just to make enough money to support his food and shelter for the day. He has two beautiful daughters that live with his aunt. He moved to Waco to be with his mom while she dies and when she passed on he had nothing. He had to give his daughters up to try and get a job. The problem is no one wants to hire someone with no address. He used to be a christian rapper named "Focuz" (you can find him on google.) He had nice cars and a house but he gave it all up just to be with his mother. He won't leave Waco to find work because his daughters are here. This man is willing to give up everything for other people and no one is even willing to give him a second glance. His whole life is now wrapped up in hustling money from strangers. He is broken and destitute and feels he has nowhere else to go. The beauty in this mess is that I was able to share with him that God has a plan for him and is with him all the way! He wants to turn his life around but doesn't see the opportunity. I never would have heard this story and been able to encourage him in the Lord if I wouldn't have stepped out in faith and gone to the broken. I pray that others (YOU) will see this need and work to meet it in Jesus name.
"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners." Isaiah 61:1
